Full-Time Ten
The brief
An easy-to-navigate gaming application which will capitalise on the football season, increase conversion and appeal to all ages.
The application should guide new users, provide them with on-boarding assistance and other features such as the ability to set up an account and to access account details (for existing users).
The team
The team on this project consisted of myself, another senior designer, two junior designers, a project manager and a product owner. The project manager acted as the scrum master and we worked within bi-weekly sprints.
The concept
A simple game for new and existing customers of William Hill, prizes awarded for correctly predicting any combination of up to ten Home wins, Away wins and draws from each week's football fixtures.
The app shows the time of each football game and gives the player the option of seeing the results of the previous six games, to help the player to predict form.
User journey & information architecture
The user journey was established collectively by the team of people involved in the design element of the project, which included myself, three more designers, the project manager and the product owner.
The user journey started out on a desk with some pens and some sticky notes and this enabled us to quickly and easily adapt our ideas as we were thinking out loud.
Once we agreed on the user journey for the prototype I was able to create a more technical drawing showing the information architecture of the app.
Wireframes
A series of rough pen sketches were transformed into beautiful wireframes to present to the stakeholders, to give them a better impression of what we were trying to achieve and to give them an opportunity to spot any potential areas for improvement.
Style guide
A style guide was created to provide less senior designers and developers the information they needed in order to get the colour scheme and typography of the game right.
Onboarding
The app features an onboarding section which teaches the user how the game works. The onboarding feature is launched automatically for first-time users and remains in the menu structure should it be required again at a later date.
Welcome back
Players return to the app following a notification to see the results of the games. They are awarded points for each correct prediction and can view their place on the leaderboard. They can also view just this week or just their weekly scores.
Leaderboard
Players are awarded points for each correct prediction and can view their place on a leaderboard of all players. They can also view just this week or or just their weekly scores.

Summary
The game app was prototyped for the product owner, who in-turn presented it to the stakeholders. The game was subsequently put into production. I was assigned to another project before initial UX test results were returned to my team so all new iterations were designed by someone else. That said, my initial designs and prototypes were produced on time and to-budget.
